GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One of astronaut Christina Koch’s official NASA uniforms, along with a set of her patches, is on display for a limited time at the Grand Rapids Public Museum in her hometown.

Koch flew on Artemis II, which launched in April 2026 and became the first crewed flight past the moon since 1972. She was born in Grand Rapids and spent childhood summers helping out on her grandfather’s farm in Sparta.

The items came from NASA’s Johnson Space Center and hang in a pop-up gallery of veterans’ uniforms the museum put together with the Michigan Heroes Museum.

Admission runs $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for college students and children ages 3 to 17.

Anyone planning a visit Sunday, Oct. 18, should note the museum is opening late, at noon, because Grand Rapids Marathon routes cover downtown. Its collection tops 250,000 artifacts and specimens. Staff are also working to fix a problem found in the 98-year-old custom gearbox of its Spillman Carousel.
