Grand Rapids, Michigan hosted the ArtPrize 2026 awards on Saturday night at the Acrisure Amphitheater. Public voting and a juried panel named two grand prize winners and category awards.
Kristin Pennock won the $100,000 public-vote grand prize for Sketchdiet: A Year of Drawing Everything I Ate, displayed at DeVos Place Convention Center. Robert Horvath won the $100,000 juried grand prize for Room for Lost Paradise, displayed at Herrema & Sons Piano Co.
Six public-vote category prizes and six juried category prizes paid $10,000 each. On the public-vote side, Scott Gelander won in two-dimensional work for American Bison, Steve Anderson won in three-dimensional work for Archangel St. Michael at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Daniel Muellerleile won in installation for Michigan Poem Lighthouse Sculpture 26ft tall, and Currents Dance Theatre won in time-based work for Glitch/Go.
On the juried side, Emily Mayo won in two-dimensional work for Mater(hood), Wendy Halperin won in three-dimensional work for The Appreciation Project at Cura Gallery, Maria Plata won in installation for We Are Not Criminals, Amelia Volwiler-Stanley won in design for The Glass Between Us, Jake Brush won in new media for This Unremarkable Life, and Ruby Duimstra won in time-based work for Lady Of The House.
Bryan Cranston chose the Delta Sky Club Award, which went to Gerry Giorgio for Nugent Sand Dunes.
Asian Art Awards went to Felicity Frobom for It’s Behind You and to Leon Lou for Portraiture in action 4. Artista Latino Awards went to Mari Barros for The Shape of Care and to Gustavo Uriel Ayala for Masking Tears With Sweat, both shown at Cura Gallery.
The Grand Rapids African American Music and Art Festival Award went to Ella Aimee Webber for Seven Deadly Sins and to Alfield Reeves for In Case You Didn’t Know.
At SouthPrize, Stephen Smith won, Kyree Westerfield took second place for Black and Beautiful, and Xavier Almighty took third place.
