Grand Rapids, Mich. — A Kent County jury on Friday convicted a 21-year-old man of two counts of first-degree murder and two weapons charges in the 2023 shooting deaths of a young couple found on Horton Avenue SE.
Jurors reached the guilty verdict shortly after noon Friday. The defendant faces a mandatory life sentence when he is sentenced later this fall.
Prosecutors said the victims were shot in the back of the head. The double murder occurred in Grand Rapids on November 6, 2023.
Authorities presented evidence including a gun and a bloody jacket linked to the shootings. The couple’s young son was discovered unharmed near the scene.
