GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A dry cold front slipping across Lower Michigan on Monday knocks Grand Rapids temperatures back a few degrees to open the week, but warmer air returns by midweek, according to the National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids.
Monday should be partly sunny with a high near 64, followed by a partly cloudy night with a low around 43. Tuesday looks similar at about 64, with east-southeast gusts that could reach 20 mph.
Forecasters said a southwest flow behind a high-pressure system to the east should push readings back up Wednesday, when Grand Rapids is expected to reach about 71. A few very light showers are possible Tuesday night.
Thursday is the day to watch. A weak cold front is forecast to stall over the area, and showers are likely mainly after 2 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of rain. Forecasters said a few quick thunderstorms are possible but no severe weather is expected.
Skies clear on Friday, when the high should reach about 68 under mostly sunny conditions. The weather service said rain chances rise heading into the weekend and early November, with a 20 to 30 percent chance on Halloween and the possibility of a soaking rain on at least one day.
