The facility aims to give back to the community through an emergency fostering program, while its location near Woodland Mall provides convenience for pet owners.

Grand Rapids is set to welcome Michigan’s first luxury pet hotel, K9 Resorts, which will open its doors in August. The facility is situated near the intersection of 28th Street and Beltline Avenue, making it easily accessible for pet owners in the area.

K9 Resorts, founded in 2005, is a multimillion-dollar project led by local entrepreneurs Mark and Megan Ivasca. The luxury pet hotel aims to redefine pet care standards in the state by offering a family-friendly environment and high-quality service akin to that found in traditional luxury hospitality establishments.

The facility will feature an expansive 12,000 square feet of both indoor and outdoor space designated for boarding and daycare. It has the capacity to accommodate up to 70 dogs overnight and 110 dogs for daycare, ensuring ample room for pets to enjoy their time at the resort. The key focus at K9 Resorts will be on cleanliness and sanitation, with health and safety measures in place that mirror hospitality industry standards.

Notable amenities at K9 Resorts will include premium Kuranda bedding, Microban flooring, and hospital-grade air purification systems designed to eliminate odors and mitigate the risk of kennel cough. The interior of the hotel features upscale design elements, such as a marble reception desk, crystal chandeliers, and Italian tile, augmenting the luxurious atmosphere. Guests residing in executive suites can also enjoy entertainment, as these suites will be equipped with flat-screen TVs.

K9 Resorts is strategically located just a ten-minute drive from the airport and adjacent to Woodland Mall, benefiting from the high traffic, with approximately 35,000 to 37,000 vehicles passing daily. This prime location enhances convenience for travelers in need of quality pet care while on the go.

Furthermore, K9 Resorts plans to give back to the community by hosting an emergency fostering program aimed at assisting local rescue efforts. The Ivaskas have reinforced their goal of offering a clean, safe environment for pets by implementing a hospital-grade air system that promotes a healthier atmosphere for the animals.

Although an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, construction on the former TGI Friday’s site at Woodland Mall is nearing completion. A grand opening event is scheduled for August and will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will be open to pet parents, allowing them to tour the facility, enjoy music and food, and learn more about the services offered. Dog guests will be welcomed starting in mid-August.

K9 Resorts represents an innovative step in the pet care industry within Michigan, setting a precedent for luxury pet boarding and daycare services. With a plan to create around 20 new jobs in the Grand Rapids area, the launch of this facility is expected to bring additional economic activity to the region while providing top-tier care for pets.
