Grand Rapids, Michigan – Acclaimed bluegrass musician Billy Strings is returning to his home state for a highly anticipated two-night concert series at the Van Andel Arena on May 30 and 31, 2025. The concert is expected to draw large crowds, as the Saturday show on May 31 has already sold out, while limited tickets remain for the Friday performance.

This event follows Strings’ recent successful five-hour Halloween performance at the same venue in 2023, where he garnered significant attention for dressing as professional wrestler Hulk Hogan. The Halloween show, which fans dubbed “The Van Andel Scramble,” had originally been set in Nashville but was relocated to Grand Rapids due to venue complications, showcasing Strings’ commitment to providing unique and memorable experiences for his audience.

Billy Strings is known for his innovative concert presentations, consistently incorporating themed events and elaborate costumes. He has built an impressive reputation in the music industry for never repeating a set list, ensuring that fans can expect fresh performances with each concert. His repertoire includes a mix of original songs and covers, with recent performances featuring tracks by notable artists such as Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, and The Doors.

The Spring 2025 tour is poised to continue this trend of diversity in his music, as the first leg involved 11 shows across the Southeastern United States. The second leg of the tour promises new interpretations of songs from his latest studio album, Highway Prayers. Billy Strings has also collaborated with renowned musicians, including Bob Dylan during the Outlaw Music Festival in Spokane, Washington, where they performed “All Along the Watchtower.”

Strings is supported by his talented band, which features musicians Billy Failing on banjo, Royal Masat on bass, Jarrod Walker on mandolin, and Alex Hargreaves on fiddle, all of whom contribute to the dynamic sound that has become synonymous with his performances.

Leading up to the concerts, Strings will host a three-day festival called “Billy Fest” in Michigan, which includes a variety of festivities such as open-mic sessions and vendor displays. These events will take place outside The Paisley Fig in Ionia, a business co-owned by Billy Strings’ mother, further solidifying his connection to his home state.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Strings made a heartfelt surprise visit to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, expressing gratitude to the medical staff for their support following the birth of his child. This act of kindness reflects his commitment to community and family, reinforcing his roots in Michigan.

Billy Strings continues to prove his versatility as an artist, recently stepping beyond traditional bluegrass to explore different genres. He made headlines for an unexpected metal show in Grand Rapids and has collaborated with the famous jam band Phish, illustrating his wide-ranging talent and appeal.

After his Grand Rapids concerts, Strings is scheduled to take the stage at the Charlotte Bluegrass Festival on June 19, marking a noteworthy return to the festival where he made his debut in the bluegrass world. As he continues to evolve as an artist while maintaining a strong connection to his origins, the upcoming shows in Michigan promise to be a celebration of music and community.
