Buc-ee’s plans to expand into the Midwest, opening new stores in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and Dayton, Ohio, set to welcome their first locations in 2025. The Oak Creek store will feature a spacious convenience store and numerous gas pumps, creating over 175 jobs. Despite the excitement, there are currently no plans for Michigan locations. The expansion will bring Buc-ee’s unique offerings closer to mid-Michigan residents, enhancing fuel options and customer service in the region.

Oak Creek, Wisconsin – Buc-ee’s, the well-known convenience store and gas station chain, is set to expand into the Midwest, with several new locations awaiting approval. For the first time, some states in the region will welcome Buc-ee’s stores in 2025, broadening the chain’s footprint beyond its traditional base. However, as of May 21, 2025, there are no plans for Buc-ee’s to open any locations in Michigan.

The newly planned Buc-ee’s locations aim to bring the chain closer to mid-Michigan residents, with stores proposed in Wisconsin and Dayton, Ohio. The Wisconsin locations will be approximately 200 miles from mid-Michigan and the Dayton location will be around 265 miles away. Currently, the closest Buc-ee’s establishments for Michigan residents are in Richmond, Kentucky, which is about 425 miles from Lansing and 367 miles from Detroit, and another in Smith’s Grove, Kentucky, at 463 miles from Lansing and 458 miles from Detroit.

Among the most talked-about planned location is the Oak Creek store in Wisconsin, currently undergoing a rezoning process. The proposed facility will offer a large 73,370-square-foot convenience store and a fuel plaza featuring 120 gas pumps. Its commitment to diverse fuel options will include ethanol-free gasoline as well as electric vehicle charging stations. The planned opening of this location is anticipated to create over 175 full-time jobs, offering wages that range from $18 to $20 per hour.

Mayor Dan Bukiewicz has expressed optimism regarding Buc-ee’s influence on the local economy, highlighting the potential positive impact on the community of Oak Creek.

Buc-ee’s has made a name for itself since its establishment in 1982, well-known for its exceptionally clean restrooms, extensive selection of snacks and beverages, and a wide assortment of merchandise that ranges from branded apparel to unique home goods. In 2024, the chain reached a new milestone by opening its largest location in Luling, Texas, and also debuted its first-ever store in Johnstown, Colorado during the same year. Additional upcoming locations are set to open in other states, including Arizona, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.

The anticipation surrounding Buc-ee’s expansion is palpable, especially since two locations in Wisconsin are projected to open as early as 2027, according to local reports. As part of its ambitious growth strategy, Buc-ee’s is also breaking ground on new establishments in Virginia and Mississippi, with a new travel center in San Marcos, Texas expected to commence construction on January 29, 2025, followed by a location in Kansas City, Kansas, slated to begin in May 2025 with a projected opening in May 2027.

With the potential arrival of Buc-ee’s in the Midwest, many are eagerly awaiting to experience the chain’s signature offerings, hoping it aligns with the company’s reputation for extensive fuel positions and quality customer service. As Buc-ee’s continues to grow its network of travel centers, it lays the foundation for a new chapter in convenience retailing across the region.
