We pull from a continuously-updated profile of Kent County employers, the Michigan Congressional delegation (Hillary Scholten (MI-3); US Sens. Gary Peters and Elissa Slotkin), state officials (Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II, AG Dana Nessel, SoS Jocelyn Benson), state legislators covering Grand Rapids districts, Grand Rapids City Council, Kent County commissioners, and the surrounding municipalities (Wyoming, Kentwood, Walker, Grandville, East Grand Rapids, Forest Hills, Cascade Township, Comstock Park). When a federal action shows up in the news, we ask: does it land on a Grand Rapids payroll? If yes, we grade it.
