On Saturday, April 26, Grand Rapids will host its 16th Annual City-Wide Community Cleanup, bringing together volunteers to clean up all 16 neighborhood districts. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by cleanup activities at 9:15 a.m. After volunteering, participants can enjoy a free lunch and activities at John Ball Zoo. Supplies will be provided, and underage volunteers must bring a guardian for waiver completion. This event fosters community spirit and environmental care, showcasing the city’s dedication to a cleaner, greener future.

Looking ahead, don’t forget that the Grand Rapids Rowing Club is also organizing a spectacular Grand River Cleanup event a couple of weeks from now, on Saturday, April 12, 2025. This event runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Riverside Park, focusing on clearing debris from the beautiful river near the LMCU Ballpark. Just like the city-wide cleanup, all cleanup supplies will be provided. Whether you’re a new volunteer or a river enthusiast, your help is invaluable!
This river cleanup is made possible thanks to the sponsorship of Pioneer Water Treatment, which is stepping in to provide the necessary funding and equipment needed for a successful event. Volunteers attending this cleanup are encouraged to dress appropriately, so don’t forget your long sleeves and pants!
On another exciting note, sports fans, mark your calendars for the upcoming Grand Regatta scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025. Prepare for an exhilarating 1,000-meter sprint race along the Grand River. It’s sure to be a thrilling day celebrating both sport and community wellness.
