Grand Rapids is set to come alive with music this summer as The Intersection announces a lineup of 31 live concerts along with the venue’s very first comedy show. This vibrant entertainment hub will showcase performances across various music genres, running from May 1 to June 30, making it a key destination for fans looking for diverse musical experiences.
The Intersection, a staple of the live music scene for over 50 years, has built a reputation as one of the few all-ages venues in the region. It features three distinct stages: The Main Room, known simply as The Intersection, along with The Stache and Elevation. This variety allows the venue to host a broad spectrum of live performances, catering to both young concert-goers and seasoned music fans.
This summer’s schedule includes an array of music genres such as Country, Metal, Rock, and EDM. One of the highlights will be Bearly Dead, a tribute band dedicated to capturing the essence of the Grateful Dead. They will perform on June 7 as part of the Paradise Waits Tour. Another notable act is Chase Rice, who is set to bring his “Go Down Singin’ International Tour” to The Intersection on June 20 during the outdoor concert series “Rock the Lot.” Billy Corgan, the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, will showcase his solo project, The Machines of God, on June 21. Additionally, on June 26, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will mark their 20-year career by performing new material.
In addition to these concerts, The Intersection will introduce its first-ever comedy night this summer, diversifying its entertainment offerings and appealing to a broader audience. Music enthusiasts are encouraged to check The Intersection’s full calendar for more shows and events planned over the coming weeks.
Beyond The Intersection, Grand Haven will also host free live music events every Wednesday evening as part of the “Music on the Grand” concert series. This series will run throughout June and July from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and in August from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Spring Lake High School Jazz Band is set to kick off this uplifting series on June 4, bringing local talent to the scenic waterfront.
To further support the local community, the Grand Haven Farmers Market is currently open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, offering fresh produce and artisan goods every week. This initiative aims to bolster local farmers and businesses while complementing the vibrant summer activities in the area.
With a diverse lineup of live performances and community-oriented events, Grand Rapids and its surrounding areas are poised for an exciting summer of music and laughter. The upcoming months will provide ample opportunities for residents and visitors alike to celebrate local talent and enjoy a dynamic arts scene.
