Showcasing over 2,000 artworks from Grand Rapids Public Schools students, the exhibition runs until May 1. Featuring more than 2,000 amazing artworks created by the budding artists of Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS), this vibrant display is open for visitors until May 1. Over 40 GRPS schools, along with several partner schools, have contributed to the diverse range of artwork on display. Visitors can expect to find pieces in literally every imaginable medium: from digital art and sculptures to ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography!
One of the standout features of this year’s exhibition is its celebration of diversity. Students from various backgrounds have expressed their viewpoints through their art, offering unique perspectives that reflect their individual experiences. For example, you might come across ceramic school buses and inspiring graffiti art themed around hope, all of which provide a rich narrative of the student body’s insights and visions.
The art on display has been thoughtfully curated by the district’s 31 talented art teachers, who selected pieces that showcase not only the impressive artistry of the students but also their personal growth as artists. The exhibition is located at 200 Ionia Ave. SW, with gallery hours running Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Fridays until 5 p.m.. For those who are concerned about parking, the venue offers plenty of spaces, including a parking ramp right across the street and various free parking options nearby!
Another fun feature of this year’s art show is the ability for visitors to leave compliments for the student artists. A handy form or QR code is available at the exhibit for this purpose. It’s a great way to encourage young talent and offer them feedback on their stunning creations!
