This initiative was born in 2020 as a response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing issues related to racial and economic inequalities. Since then, it has been a game-changer for local youth. The program has successfully provided employment for 1,150 young people in various roles that equip them with essential workplace skills.
This summer, GRow1000 is offering over 100 positions where participants will be actively engaged from June 9 to July 18, 2025. And guess what? Not only will you gain experience, but you’ll be paid as well! You can earn $13 per hour for working 20 hours a week. That’s a great way to bank some cash while learning at the same time!
Each week, on Fridays, you can attend professional development workshops designed specifically to help you thrive. These workshops will cover key topics such as social skills, financial management, and workplace etiquette. Imagine walking away not just with a paycheck, but with skills that will set you up for success in the future!
No worries if you’re concerned about getting to work! Bus passes will be provided to participants who request one, making it even easier to join this exciting program.
The day-to-day management of the GRow1000 program will be overseen by Our Community’s Children, a collaborative effort involving the city, Grand Rapids Public Schools, and various community partners. These partnerships ensure that every participant gets the support needed to succeed!
