GringoDog's Dog House invites customers to enjoy gourmet hot dogs, with a drive-thru and walk-up option.
GringoDog, known for its mobile hotdog cart, is opening its first permanent restaurant, GringoDog’s Dog House, in Wyoming, MI on June 1. This new spot will offer a drive-thru and walk-up service with a variety of gourmet hot dog options and more, enhancing customer experience after a decade of serving the community from a cart. The move signifies growth for the brand, allowing for expanded operations and continued service at their mobile location near local attractions.
Wyoming, MI – GringoDog’s Mobile Hotdog Shop is set to open its first permanent restaurant, GringoDog’s Dog House, on June 1. The new establishment will be located at 3648 S. Division Ave, marking a significant milestone for the business that has catered to hungry customers for the past decade through its mobile cart.
Founded by Roger Bouwman, GringoDog started out as a hot dog cart in downtown Grand Rapids. It has been strategically positioned at the corner of Ottawa Avenue and Fulton Street, drawing weekend crowds from nearby attractions such as Van Andel Arena and GLC Live at 20 Monroe. Bouwman’s vision for serving his artisanal, all-beef hot dogs from a fixed location has finally come to fruition.
The new restaurant will feature both a drive-thru and a walk-up window, allowing for easy access to menu offerings. Diners can expect a variety of options including hot dogs, corn dogs, sausages, smoked macaroni and cheese, French fries, and a selection of hot and cold beverages. The opening of the brick-and-mortar location is anticipated to enhance service and customer experience while still maintaining the charm of the original mobile hot dog cart.
As the opening date approaches, Bouwman is awaiting the completion of final building inspections. In a promotional strategy, the mobile hot dog cart is temporarily set up at the new restaurant site, allowing potential customers to sample food before the official launch.
Initial operating hours for GringoDog’s Dog House will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Bouwman, however, plans to extend the hours over the weekends once additional staff members are recruited. Currently, there are ten employees managing both the mobile cart and the new restaurant. The hot dog cart is expected to continue functioning outside Van Andel Arena every weekend, providing late-night snacks for concert-goers and other patrons following events.
The evolution from a food cart to a full-service restaurant represents both growth and a dream realized for Bouwman. He initially operated the cart due to financial constraints that prevented him from opening a restaurant sooner. Now, with a permanent location, he anticipates that having a facility will allow for increased operations, including the running of multiple carts, further expanding the GringoDog brand.
With the anticipated success of GringoDog’s Dog House, Wyoming residents can look forward to enjoying gourmet hot dog offerings in a convenient and accessible setting, enriching the local dining scene beginning June 1.
