The All-GLIAC honors included four players named to the First-Team, comprising shortstop Evan Morrison, left fielder Ryan Dykstra, starting pitcher Jayden Dentler, and starting pitcher Collin Bradley. Additionally, GVSU had five players awarded a spot on the Second-Team: first baseman Jovan Gill, designated hitter Jonas Gulbrandsen, utility player Ayden VanEnkevort, and relievers Colby Phipps and Will Goebel. The accolades also extended to catcher Brendan Guciardo and starting pitcher Alan Thorington, who earned Honorable Mention recognition.

With the win against Saginaw Valley State, the Lakers’ record advanced to 40-10. Their impressive performance at the tournament has set the stage for their upcoming game against the winner of the Wayne State-Parkside match, which is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. GVSU boasts a historical record of 12-4 at Jackson Field and has shown exceptional form, winning 19 out of their last 20 games.

In their second-round matchup, GVSU solidified their position by shutting out Wayne State with a dominating 6-0 score. This victory allowed the Lakers to boost their record to 41-10, further fueling their pursuit of a title in the GLIAC Tournament. Senior pitcher Collin Bradley proved pivotal in this game, pitching eight shutout innings to contribute to the team’s success.

The Lakers have a strong tradition in the GLIAC Tournament, having secured a total of 12 tournament titles to date. Their current performance reflects a dominant run with a remarkable 20-1 record in their last 21 games, increasing optimism among fans and players alike as they aim to sustain momentum leading into their championship ambitions.

This marks the eighth occasion in program history that GVSU has reached 40 wins in a single season, the first time achieving this milestone since 2012. Senior right-handed pitcher Jayden Dentler particularly stood out in the opening game against Saginaw Valley State, delivering an exceptional performance by pitching 8 innings, allowing just one run on seven hits, and striking out four batters.
