The city of Kentwood has kicked off its popular summer concert series, featuring local funk musician Tony Thompson and Friends. The series will run every Thursday evening through August, following the Kentwood Farmers Market. Attendees can enjoy a variety of local produce and food truck offerings while immersing themselves in community spirit through music and fitness activities like Zumba classes.
Kentwood – The city of Kentwood has officially kicked off its annual summer concert series, with local funk musician Tony Thompson and Friends taking the stage on Thursday night. The concert series, which is a popular community event, will continue each Thursday evening through the end of August, providing residents with an array of entertainment options.
Held behind Kentwood City Hall, the summer concert series is scheduled to start at 7 PM each Thursday, immediately following the Kentwood Farmers Market. The farmers market runs from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, offering attendees a great opportunity to shop for local produce and goods before enjoying live music.
This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Kentwood Farmers Market, a significant milestone that reflects the community’s commitment to supporting local vendors and promoting healthy, fresh options for families. Alongside the farmers market, the concert series aims to enhance the community’s summer experience by featuring a diverse lineup of musical performances.
Community members attending the concerts are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for comfortable seating. Additionally, concertgoers have the option to bring their own food, beer, and wine, making it an ideal outing for friends and families looking to enjoy a relaxed evening together.
For those seeking dining options, five food trucks will rotate throughout the summer concert series, ensuring a variety of choices for attendees. The food trucks include El Jalapeno, PizzaMI, Desi’s Tropical Sno Shack, Patty Matters, and Eastown Cereal, each offering unique culinary offerings to complement the concert experience.
This summer, the city is also introducing a free Zumba class, taking place before each concert in June from 5:15 PM to 5:45 PM. This energizing workout session is a new addition to the summer events and aims to promote health and fitness within the community.
Attendees are advised of the convenient parking options available at several locations nearby, including Kentwood City Hall, Kent District Library Kentwood Branch, Kentwood Justice Center, Kentwood Fire Station 1, Kentwood Public Works, and Crestwood Middle School. Each of these locations will provide ample parking space, allowing for easy access to the concert and market areas.
It is important to note that there will be no farmers market or concert held on July 3, which is a significant date for many families as they prepare for the Independence Day celebrations.
