Kentwood is gearing up for another exciting summer with the return of the Kentwood Summer Recreation Passport, which is now available and offers a range of activities, events, parks, and trails for residents and visitors alike. The passport is offered for free, making it an accessible option for all community members looking to enjoy summer fun.

This year, participants can engage in numerous activities and have the chance to win prizes. To qualify for a Summer Prize Raffle, individuals need to complete a selection of six activities listed in the passport, which awards them a free pack of sidewalk chalk. Additionally, attending four different events on the activities list grants participants another entry into the raffle along with a free bubble wand. The Summer Prize Raffle drawing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2.

Local businesses have joined the community effort by sponsoring prizes for the raffle, with notable contributors including Coffee Clubhouse, Great Lakes Glow Golf, Happy Kidz Indoor Playground, Red Robin, and Texas Roadhouse. This collaboration highlights both community support and the importance of local partnerships.

Where to Obtain the Passport

Residents can pick up the Kentwood Summer Recreation Passport at the Kentwood Activities Center, located at 355 48th St SE, during regular business hours. The center is open Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, the passports are available at the Kentwood Farmers Market and the Summer Concert Series taking place behind City Hall on Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Community Events and Raffle Opportunities

Kentwood boasts an attractive offering of outdoor space, with 15 parks, two trails, and two trailheads spanning over 400 acres. The weekly farmers market presents an array of over 20 vendors, offering local goods ranging from baked items to handcrafted products. The market also prioritizes accessibility, accepting SNAP and EBT benefits, supplemented by the availability of Double Up Food Bucks for eligible participants to ensure low-income families can access fresh produce and other goods.

Kickoff to Summer Celebration

The summer festivities will officially kick off with a Kickoff to Summer Celebration on Saturday, May 31, from noon to 8 p.m. at City Hall. This celebration will feature over 20 food trucks, live music, a dedicated kids’ zone, and a market showcasing more than 15 artisan vendors.
