On National Signing Day, 12 athletes put pen to paper to join college programs, while an additional five recently signed, bringing the total number of athletes from the class of 2025 to 19. The majority of these signings feature accomplished track and field participants who have made significant contributions to their sport at Petoskey High School.

Key Signings

Among the notable signings, Sam Mitas will be heading to Grand Valley State University (GVSU). Mitas has established himself as the fastest athlete in the school’s history, holding individual records in the 100 meter dash (10.82 seconds) and the 200 meter dash (22.17 seconds). His impressive offseason performance includes a personal best of 21.68 seconds in the 200 meter.

Logan Beer has signed with Lake Superior State University after demonstrating remarkable improvement in his times, dropping from 13.00 seconds as a freshman to a personal record of 11.03 seconds in the 100 meter. Beer has also qualified for the state finals in both the 100 meter and 200 meter events, showcasing his potential as a strong collegiate competitor.

Kaiden Boyce is set to join Calvin University, specializing in hurdle events with personal records of 15.99 seconds in the 110 meter and 41.02 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles. He was also part of the 4×100 relay team that secured a regional title with a new school record time of 41.83 seconds, alongside Mitas and Beer.

Parker Fettig will be competing at Northwood University, focusing on the 1,500 meter run in track and the 8,000 meter run in cross country. Fettig has expressed a preference for cross country due to the diverse courses and challenges it presents.

For women’s golf, Sara Hasse has signed with the Northern Michigan University women’s golf program. Hasse has been an integral member of the PHS varsity lineup since her freshman year and has made four consecutive appearances in the state finals. Her dedication to the sport is evident, having worked with coaches since middle school to refine her skills.
