GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Griffins evened their season series with Milwaukee on Friday night, beating the Admirals 4-2 at Van Andel Arena in front of a crowd of 7,611. The Admirals had won the first meeting 4-1 back on Oct. 10.
Captain Dominik Shine, coming off a four-goal game against Texas on Wednesday, scored a power-play goal in the second period and added an assist. That gave him 240 points as a Griffin, moving him past Travis Richards into second place in franchise history. Only Michel Picard, with 380, has more.
Sutter Muzzatti opened the scoring 5:20 in, in his first game back from an injury that had sidelined him since early October. Dylan James then scored shorthanded at 11:45 of the first, wrapping a shot around the net during a stretch when Milwaukee had a two-man advantage for part of the kill.
Cole O’Hara got Milwaukee on the board late in the second, and Chase Bradley scored at 18:06 of the third after Noah Dower Nilsson had hit the empty net. Trey Augustine stopped 25 of 27 shots, and the Griffins penalty kill went 5-for-6.
The win pushed the Griffins point streak to nine games. They play again Saturday, Nov. 7, at Rockford.
