GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Two Grand Rapids, Michigan, men were arrested early Sunday, Oct. 4, after state police say someone in their SUV fired shots at another car on a U.S. 131 ramp the afternoon before.
Troopers were called about 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, to the southbound U.S. 131 ramp from 44th Street in Wyoming after witnesses reported a passenger in a silver SUV shooting at a red Cadillac sedan. Five people were in the Cadillac, two adults and three juveniles. No one was hit and no injuries were reported.
Police said the shooting followed a verbal argument between people in the two vehicles at a business a few miles away. Investigators identified the suspects, and troopers found them during a traffic stop around 1 a.m. Sunday in Grand Rapids. Two guns and ammunition believed connected to the shooting were found in the vehicle, police said.
A 24-year-old man was lodged in the Kent County Correctional Facility on charges including discharging a firearm from a vehicle and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. A 25-year-old man faces charges including aiding and abetting that assault. Both also face concealed weapon charges. The charges are accusations, and the men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The Wyoming Public Safety Department assisted Michigan State Police with the investigation.
