Creston is one of Grand Rapids' most established working-class neighborhoods — diverse, community-oriented, and showing signs of commercial revival along Plainfield Avenue. The neighborhood features largely bungalow and ranch housing from the 1920s–1950s, good park access, and a neighborly culture.
History
Creston developed as a working-class residential neighborhood in the early 20th century, attracting furniture workers and their families. It maintained a stable working-class character through most of the 20th century and has seen increased investment and community development in recent decades.
