GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Jon Morosi, a national baseball reporter who got his start writing about the West Michigan Whitecaps as an intern, will be the featured guest at the team charity’s winter banquet in Grand Rapids this January.
The Whitecaps Community Foundation put tickets and sponsorships on sale this week for the dinner, set for Thursday, Jan. 14, 2027, in the Ambassador Ballroom of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. Eastbrook Homes is presenting the event. Seats start at $175 each, and tables can be sponsored.
Morosi grew up in Michigan, and the night is billed as a homecoming of sorts for him. Players from the 2026 Whitecaps roster are also expected back for the evening.
The banquet will also honor the next member of the West Michigan Whitecaps Hall of Fame. The club plans to name the 2027 pick in November, and that person will be recognized at the dinner.
The banquet is the main fundraiser for the foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Whitecaps. Started in 2012, it backs youth baseball and softball across West Michigan and works with the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. The team notes that guest appearances can change.
